Adding bold prints and patterns into your home may seem overwhelming at first, but you’ll soon be a pro with the help of Diane von Furstenberg and her new H&M Home collection. The iconic designer brought her timeless taste into 31 new home goods for the brand, ranging from statement glass vases to colorful blankets. She follows interior designer Jonathan Adler, who launched H&M Home’s first design collaboration in 2019.
If you’ve been on the hunt for a special way to elevate a room, look no further. “What we did for the H&M Home collection is make it very, very iconic, using very recognizable DVF prints and playing with them for home accessories,” Von Furstenberg shares with Architectural Digest over email. “Black-and-white signature as well as warm, cozy coral and shocking pink combo.”
Whether you’re a maximalist who believes more is more or you prefer an understated design with sprinkles of pizzazz, this collaboration managed to find the ultimate balance for any aesthetic.
The patterns vary from zebra print throw pillows to eye-catching multicolored lip plates; Von Furstenberg says she uses every single piece in her own humble abode. “All I can say is that I love all of the products and that I have found spots for all of them in my home,” she reveals. “The quality is great and the design is fun, elegant, and can go in any surroundings. It’s fun to see how relevant this collaboration ended up at a time we all spent so much time at home.”
Of course, the fashion star couldn’t leave shoppers with nothing to wear. As part of the collection, she designed a robe that, like her beloved wrap dress, is flattering on anyone, anywhere. “The robe was where I was able to weigh in on fabrics; it needed to be something soft that you could spend all day in or wear comfortably sitting on the bathroom counter to put your makeup on as I do,” says Von Furstenberg . “For the rest of the collection, my signature prints came through and feel very iconic DVF.”
This isn’t the first time Von Furstenberg has dabbled with homeware, and it likely won’t be her last. “I have done home goods in the past and would consider it in the future,” she says. For now, mark your calendars for April 16, when the complete Diane von Furstenberg H&M Home collection will be available to shop online and in select H&M stores.
