Oprah Winfrey Sells Her 43-Acre Waterfront Estate on Orcas Island for $14 Million

Oprah Winfrey now has one less property in her impressive real estate portfolio. According to Business Journal, the media mogul has sold her sprawling 43-acre waterfront estate on Orcas Island in Washington for $14 million, just three years after buying it. The broker, who represented Winfrey in the sale, told the publication that she decided to sell because “she’s too busy and never going to really use it.”

Located just off the coast of Seattle, the secluded Madroneagle compound—which Winfrey picked up for more than $8 million (without even visiting it in person!)—comprises two waterfront parcels and features approximately 3,000 feet of west-facing shoreline, ideal for breathtaking sunset views. The 7,303-square-foot main house has four bedrooms and three-and-a-half bathrooms and spans three stories. It boasts an impressive copper and slate roof on the exterior and rustic yet luxurious cabin-like interior finishes made of rare reclaimed woods. Great for entertaining, the spacious home has a living area with a stone-faced fireplace, a dining room, and a kitchen with an oversized center island and a built-in pizza oven. Other highlights of the residence include a cozy library nook lined in floor-to-ceiling bookshelves, a game room, a home office, and a wine cellar and tasting room.

Elsewhere on the estate, there is a 2,948-square-foot guesthouse with four bedrooms and three bathrooms set on a high cliff overlooking the private beach. According to the original listing, the grounds also include a garden, hiking trails, a sauna, a pond, a stream, and more.

Winfrey currently resides at her so-called Promised Land ranch, located in the celebrity enclave of Montecito, California. In addition to the almost 70-acre property, the TV host owns homes on the Hawaii island of Maui and in Telluride, Colorado.
